Summary: Several attorneys have made changes in their career this month. Predictably, the majority of these attorneys will still be working in the same fields of law. Some firms reported several departures.
Here are some recent attorney lateral moves.


Richard Hankins, whose primary practice is employment law, left McKenna Long for a new position with McGuire Woods. Hankins' practice is located in Atlanta.


Gina Gray has joined Perkins Coie from Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Gray practices in trust and estate law, and her office is located in Chicago.

Steffen Schellschmidt, a corporate attorney who previously practiced with Linklaters
, is now a partner with Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. Schellschmidt will practice out of the firm's Frankfurt location.

Ivan Present, whose practice is centered on corporate law, has departed Clifford Chance LLP for Greenberg Traurig. Present, who previously practiced with Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, and Fried Frank, will work in the New York office.

Joseph Cosentino will practice corporate law in Greenberg Traurig's New York office. Cosentino previously worked for Clifford Chance.

David Wheeler has departed Greenberg Traurig for Chapman Spingola. Wheeler's practice focuses on information technology. Wheeler is located in the firm's Chicago office.

Jeffrey Symons has moved from Kirkland & Ellis LLP to Jones Day, where he will work as a partner in the New York office. Symons practices corporate law.

Katherine Lee Carey, whose expertise is in education law, has moved from American Career College to Cooley. Carey has previously worked for West Coast University, Universal Technical Institute, and Westwood College. Carey joins Cooley's San Diego office.

Rachel Paulose, previously of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, will join DLA Piper as a partner in Minneapolis.

Tim L'Orange has joined DLA Piper's Sydney office. L'Orange recently departed Mills Oakley Lawyers. L'Orange focuses on real estate law.

Richard Silfen, a corporate attorney, has joined Duane Morris LLP. Silfen was previously with American Realty Capital Properties. Silfen joins the Philadelphia office.

Catharine Morisset has joined Fisher & Phillips after departing Jackson Lewis. Morisset will practice employment law in the firm's Seattle office.

Dirk Michels, who handles energy law and banking matters, has joined Ballard Spahr from K&L Gates. Michels will practice in the firm's Los Angeles location.

Colleen Carolan Ludwig has moved from Blank Rome LLP to DaVita. Carolan will handle employment law issues from the firm's Los Angeles office.

Gerald Hathaway, formerly of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, has joined Drinker Biddle & Reath's New York office. Hathaway focuses on employment law issues.

Didier Bruere-Dawson, a corporate attorney, has left De Gaulle Fleurance & Associés for a partner position in Brown Rudnick's London office. Bruere-Dawson will practice in the firm's corporate law department.
