BCG Attorney Search speaks with attorneys about law firms every day. Here is what attorneys are saying:

etly no work/life balance.

DLA Piper is one of the worlds largest law firms, with offices in 40 countries and a staff of more than 4,200 lawyers. Reviews of the firm are largely positive, with many former and current employees praising the benefits, work/life balance, and flexible work location with hoteling policy. The firm is also noted for its global reach, competitive salaries, and working with decent clients. On the downside, some reviews complain management can be stifling, long hours and tedious work can be expected, and the people can be miserable.

Overall, the reviews generally point to a positive work environment at DLA Piper. Many former and current employees speak of the great benefits, competitive salaries, and flexible work location with hoteling policy that the firm provides. The culture at the firm is also praised, with staff being friendly and the work environment being great. At the same time, the firm is noted for its global reach, working with decent clients, and having reasonable hours and good pay.

However, a few reviews also criticize the bureaucracy at DLA Piper, with some citing it as being stifling. Additionally, many mention the long hours and tedious work that can be expected of employees. The firm has also been criticized for having poor upper management and a lack of work/life balance, as well as having more people in the C Suite than necessary.

All in all, it appears that DLA Piper is an overall positive place to work. The great benefits and flexible work location are a major draw, and employees are generally satisfied with the work/life balance and competitive salaries. On the other hand, some reviews do point to areas of improvement, such as addressing the long hours and tedious work, and improving upper management.

Pros: none

Cons: Not a law firm I would recommend! They overcharge for simple tasks an create and bill hours for work where there is not. They delivered company setup templates rather than customized as we needed and charged a horrendous fee for that. Definitely not someone we will work with again! Unethical and our lawyer just seemed wanting to charge hours rather than do the work. Stay away from them!

Pros: Often there weren't that many billable hours so at times it could be calm.

Cons: A lot! Partners were very difficult to work with (a lot of them got fired in the 2,5 years that I worked there so they reflected their stress on associates), colleagues weren't that great compared to other firms I worked at (very competitive, jealousy, etc.), the level wasn't also very high (partners were sometimes wrong in their reasoning, same as lead lawyers etc.).
