Leger & Shaw is a full service New Orleans regional law firm concentrating in maritime and admiralty law cases, class actions and complex litigation, commercial litigation issues and serious personal injury claims. Our focus allows us to excel and has contributed to a reputation for excellence and a track record of success. We have locations in New Orleans, Covington, Chalmette and Houma, Louisiana.
Experienced Attorneys
Our experienced lawyers have been assisting Louisiana and Gulf Coast residents primarily in matters involving offshore accidents, class actions and complex litigation, and individuals who have suffered from serious personal injuries or wrongful death. We also represent plaintiffs and defendants in commercial litigation claims, handling everything from multi-party and multi-district litigation to simple breach of contract actions.
Our firm takes all cases very seriously. We represent the rights of individuals who have sustained catastrophic injuries in a range of situations, including offshore accidents, class actions, products liability, toxic exposure, and wrongful death.
Our Experience
We have been representing clients since 1979. During that time, we have handled numerous high-profile cases involving large businesses, including complex litigation involving numerous insurance companies and businesses in several different jurisdictions.
Our attorneys have also given numerous lectures to other attorneys, including subjects involving class action law, maritime law, insurance law, and trial practice. We feature an attorney, Walter J. Leger, Jr., who was a finalist for the "National Trial Lawyer of the Year" Award of the Lawyers for Public Justice, has been named to the "Leadership in Law Hall of Fame", been recognized as a "Louisiana Super Lawyer", and been honored by the Federal Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association, and the Louisiana Association for Justice with Presidents' Awards. He has been named a "Louisiana Legal Legend" by the Louisiana Bar Journal.
Leger is a former Chairman of the New Orleans Regional Chamber of Commerce who was appointed by both Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco and Governor Bobby Jindal to the Louisiana Recovery Authority tasked to steer the rebuilding of our state after the horrific disaster resulting from Hurricane Katrina. Leger and other members of the firm have been involved in some of the most significant cases in our nation's modern legal history, but still find time to give back to the community and the profession.
