Crowder & Scoggins, Ltd. is the first law firm to be incorporated in the State of Illinois, and the largest in Monroe County, Illinois. The firm has earned the reputation for providing quality legal service to individuals and companies in the St. Louis Metropolitan area.

Floyd Crowder opened the first office located in Columbia, Illinois in 1963. Over the years, the firm has grown from a sole practitioner to its current size of eight attorneys. The attorneys are divided into three practice groups, each headed by one of the senior members of the firm, and each concentrating in particular areas of law.

One group handles the general practice of law, and concentrates in transactional, real estate, business, corporate, estate planning, estate settlements, estate and trust litigation and condemnation litigation.

Another group also handles general matters, but concentrates on personal injury, workers' compensation, tort litigation, municipal law and criminal law.

The third group focuses on family law, municipal law, criminal law and other miscellaneous matters.

Each attorney handles trial and appellate litigation involving his or her area of concentration.

Despite the division of concentration, Crowder & Scoggins, Ltd. pursues a "team" approach to the practice of law. At the end of each day, all attorneys gather for a meeting at which each attorney has the opportunity to discuss unusual or complex issues relating to a pending matter with the other attorneys. This practice utilizes the various expertise of each attorney in the firm and brings the other lawyers up to date on new or pending matters. This tradition facilitates the handling of cases and saves costs for clients.

Each lawyer does his or her utmost to live up to the trust that clients place in the lawyers of the firm, and as a result, most clients are repeat clients or new clients who have been referred by existing or former clients.
