In 2002, Tommy Cofield and Amy Cofield re-formed their own law firm in Lexington after the death of their father, C. Thomas Cofield, III. The late Mr. Cofield had practiced with several firms in the Upstate of South Carolina in Greenville County and Anderson County, and he founded Cofield Law Firm in 1990. The late Mr. Cofield practiced primarily in the areas of Real Estate, Probate/Wills, and Personal Injury Litigation. He was also the former city judge in Mauldin, South Carolina.
Tommy Cofield served two years as law clerk for Circuit Court Judge Walter T. Cox, III, and thereafter, he entered private practice in Columbia, South Carolina with Barnes Alford Stork and Johson, where he practiced for eighteen years mostly in civil litigation
Amy Cofield had worked several years with her father, and then she continued Cofield Law Firm in Anderson for several years before she and her brother re-formed and re-located the firm in Lexington. Amy practiced in the partnership with her brother until January of 2019, when Governor Henry McMaster appointed her to be the Agency Head for the State Accident Fund.
