When Buddy Kirk and Bill Palmer started Kirk and Palmer, P.A., in 1992, they committed themselves to excellence and integrity in the practice of law and to providing the highest level of legal service. In 1995, Richard Thigpen joined the firm as a partner, and the partners changed the name of the firm to Kirk Palmer & Thigpen, P.A., which is still used today. Richard left the firm in 1997 to become the general counsel of the Carolina Panthers NFL team, succeeding his father, Dick Thigpen, in that position. Dick joined the firm at that time, where he remained in practice until his retirement in 2005. Richard re-joined the firm in 2018.
Today, the firm comprises ten attorneys who are supported by four paralegals (having a combined 80 years of experience) and an indispensable staff. Our practices and lawyers have been consistently recognized in Best Lawyers®, Super Lawyers®, U.S. News® - "Best Law Firms" and Business North Carolina - Legal Elite®.
We are a boutique law firm, which means that while we don't do everything, what we do, we do very well.
