Our firm handles litigation in all state and federal courts. Our civil litigation practice includes business litigation, general civil litigation (plaintiff and defendant), real estate litigation, probate litigation and divorce. Our criminal practice includes representation in investigation and defense in all areas of criminal law, including DUI.

The firm has provided business consultation and advice throughout its 50 year history and has represented companies and individuals in a wide variety of business matters, including formation, governance, ownership disputes, sales, acquisitions, mergers and other transactions, franchise acquisition, financing, including representation of both borrowers and lenders, and human resource matters. We strive to provide practical advice and alternatives and straightforward documents, to help the client accomplish its goals while avoiding unnecessary expense and complexity.

Our real estate practice is one of the most active in Knoxville and includes purchase and sale transactions, due diligence, leasing, land planning and zoning, subdivision and development, construction and real estate finance. We help clients obtain other real estate services and work with agents for all major title insurance companies.

Representation of individuals in domestic relations matters, basic estate planning, probate and personal real estate transactions is a significant part of the firm's practice. Several attorneys primarily handle family law matters, including pre-nuptial agreements, divorce actions, post-divorce actions and child custody proceedings.

Over the years, the firm has tailored its practice to meet the needs of its clients. As alternative dispute resolution became more viable and effective, the firm added representation in mediation and arbitration to its services and now offers mediator and arbitrator services, which are provided by a former Knox County Chancellor and attorneys approved and listed as Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 mediators.

Lawyers in our firm work regularly with lawyers in other firms to ensure that the client receives the best possible advice on specific matters. We frequently assist other firms and their clients in business and real estate matters and frequently receive referrals from other firms on personal and domestic matters. Likewise, when the needs of our clients do not support the cost of developing and maintaining a particular expertise within our firm, we identify a lawyer with expertise in that area and work with that lawyer to ensure the client receives the best possible service.
