In 1984, the firm's founder, Charles Sweeney, an accomplished trial lawyer, decided to devote his firm's practice to the representation of personal injury victims.
In the last 32 years, the Sweeney Law Firm has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover financial compensation for harm they have suffered as a result of the negligence of others. The Sweeney Law Firm handles personal injury, medical malpractice, and nursing home negligence cases on a contingent fee basis. A significant part of the firm's practice involves collaborating with local and out-of-state law firms on referral cases or serving as local counsel.
In 1995, Sweeney teamed up with David Farnbauch, a board-certified civil trial litigator, to develop a personal injury firm with the financial resources to handle complex bodily injury cases. Cases involving serious or catastrophic injuries can be very expensive to take to court. If a firm lacks the resources to fund a case properly, corners can be cut at the expense of a client's case.
For many years, the Sweeney Law Firm has been at the cutting edge when it comes to the integration of computer technology into the practice of personal injury law. The firm utilizes computer and video technology to assist in the art of persuasion and to make complex concepts understandable.

In 2013, a board-certified neurologist and plaintiffs' medical malpractice lawyer, Dr. Nicholas King, joined the Sweeney Law Firm as of counsel. Dr. King has compiled a distinguished record authoring winning submissions in malpractice cases that are presented to a medical review panel.
