Tenenbaum & Saas is a law firm that specializes in serving the needs of individuals, corporations, financial institutions and businesses of all sizes. We are founded upon the belief that the single most important factor in how effectively a law firm serves its clients is the human element ? the diligence, experience and capability of the firm's lawyers to work effectively and efficiently with clients, other lawyers and adversaries.
The firm's history and each lawyer's long-standing commitment to handling complicated transactions and disputes promote a unique appreciation for the business goals, outcomes and concerns of those we represent. Many of our lawyers previously served as in-house counsel and many continue to serve in a capacity as outside general counsel or advisor to business enterprises large and small. Such proximity to business interests enhances our ability to align guidance on legal matters with business outcomes affecting our clients.
Tenenbaum & Saas' core practice areas cover a range of issues that our clients face: Real Estate, Litigation and Bankruptcy, Reorganization and Work-Outs, Corporate and Joint Ventures and Finance. The firm's principal office is located in Chevy Chase, Maryland in close proximity to the courts, federal and state offices, major financial services companies, and other businesses of the greater metropolitan Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland region. This location also affords ready access to our clients in Pennsylvania and North Carolina while many of our lawyers also serve clients located in states in New England and Southeast United States.
Tenenbaum & Saas celebrated its 20th year of practice in 2016. Throughout our history, our lawyers have maintained a steadfast dedication to community involvement and service to the legal profession. Members of the firm are active in professional organizations, teach at universities, lecture and participate in seminars in their areas of special interest, and hold leadership positions in professional, religious, charitable, educational, civic and community groups.
Our History
Mark S. Tenenbaum and J. Richard Saas founded Tenenbaum & Saas when they left a mid-sized law firm in Washington, D.C. in 1996. Previously, Mr. Tenenbaum served in the capacity of regional general counsel to Trammell Crow Company in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions and before that as general counsel to Trammell Crow Company's Washington retail division. Prior to returning to private practice, Mr. Saas was general counsel to South Charles Realty Corporation and an assistant general counsel at NationsBank Corporation.
Shortly after the firm's founding, Bradshaw Rost established the firm's litigation and bankruptcy practice after serving many years as the partner in charge of a Washington, D.C. firm's litigation and bankruptcy department.
As the firm grew, they declined a number of opportunities to merge their real estate practices into larger regional or national law firms for a number of reasons:
First, to provide legal services in a more personalized and cost-efficient manner than larger law firms can afford;
Second, to maintain greater flexibility to make decisions best suited to the specific needs of the firm's clients; and
Third, to create and nurture a working atmosphere that would attract excellent lawyers at all levels of experience.
The growth of the firm since its formation reflects our success in achieving these objectives. Since its founding, the firm has expanded with the addition of several partners, counsels and associates in an effort to provide additional expertise and depth to the Firm's real estate, litigation and general transactional practice.
