Some recent community efforts include: Philadelphia Reads Philadelphia Reads recruits reading tutors to provide one-on-one attention to public school children who may need to catch up on reading skills. The program's goal is to ensure that all children are reading at grade level by the end of third grade. Philadelphia Museums In tribute to Philadelphia's cultural and historical significance, the Philadelphia office supports the efforts of three of the most renowned museums in the city: the Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the National Constitution Center. The Philadelphia office is proud of our partnership with these outstanding cultural organizations and will continue to support their community events. City Year Greater Philadelphia City Year brings together young AmeriCorps volunteers, ages 18-24, who commit to one year of full-time service at a selected school in a high-poverty community. Our sponsorship of City Year Greater Philadelphia began in 2004 and has helped nearly 100 Corps members provide more than 100,000 hours of direct service to Philadelphia students in need. Many of our attorneys and staff also volunteer their time annually in support of City Year events, including City Year Days of Service, Holiday Drives for School Supplies and more. Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House In 2019, 100 members of our Philadelphia office volunteered their time to assemble 150 care kits for families at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House - an organization that has supported families of seriously ill children for more than four decades. This effort was part of WeGetInvolved, Faegre Drinker's ongoing community outreach program. Covenant House of Pennsylvania As part of the firm's 2020 service project for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, more than 120 volunteer attorneys and staff colleagues created care packages for Covenant House PA. This organization helps teenagers and adolescents turn the tragedy of homelessness into an opportunity for growth and transformation. American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania Faegre Drinker is a longtime supporter and advocate for the ACLU of Pennsylvania, and has served as counsel to the ACLU in many historically significant cases, some of which have made it to the U.S. Supreme Court. Faegre Drinker's Philadelphia office leader currently serves as general counsel to the ACLU of PA, continuing a long tradition of having one of our firm partners serve in that role.
