Our History

Rountree Losee LLP has provided well-respected, high-quality legal services in Southeastern North Carolina for generations. Our Firm was founded in 1896 by Judge George Rountree, an 1877 Harvard College graduate, and the grandfather of current special counsel, George Rountree III. George Rountree, Jr. joined his father in the practice of law in 1928 after graduation from Harvard College and Harvard Law School, and continued the tradition of providing sound counsel and exceptional legal service for more than fifty years. In 1962, a few years after graduating from the University of Arizona School of Law, George Rountree III joined the Firm and continued the family tradition. After his father's passing in 1979, George Rountree III became senior partner at the Firm, a position that he held for thirty-seven years.

Grounded in this history and tradition, and guided by our Firm values, Rountree Losee's diverse and growing team of lawyer-leaders continues to provide exceptional legal service to individuals, businesses, and municipalities throughout North Carolina. We are proud to continue the Rountree legacy of excellence in politics, business, and law and take great pride in putting our Firm's wealth of experience to work for our clients.
Community Involvement

Beyond our strong commitment to exceptional client service, our Firm has a proud history of serving the communities in which we live and work. Our Firm's founder was an integral member of North Carolina's political and legal landscape, serving in the North Carolina General Assembly, as a founder and charter member of the North Carolina Bar Association, and as a North Carolina Superior Court Judge. The Firm's tradition of public service continues today. Many of our attorneys have served or are serving in elected or appointed positions in the political and charitable arenas, and even more volunteer their time with national, regional, and local non-profit organizations.
