Hyatt & Stubblefield, P.C., has a history that spans more than four decades, beginning in 1973 when founder Wayne Hyatt left a prominent labor law practice to establish his own firm. Shortly thereafter, Wayne was elected president of his condominium association, where he quickly recognized a growing need for specialized legal advice for condominiums and homeowners associations. Joined by Jim Rhoads in 1974, Wayne Hyatt and the firm of Hyatt & Rhoads carved their niche and soon became recognized as leading experts in dealing with the legal issues confronting condominium and homeowners associations.
The firm's association practice gave rise to a unique understanding of the need for careful planning, good draftsmanship, and a preventive law approach to creating condominiums and community associations. The practice quickly expanded to include representation of developers in the creation of all types of condominiums and planned communities, both nationally and internationally.
In 1984, Jo Anne Stubblefield joined the firm, becoming primarily involved in working with developers of condominiums and planned communities. Over the next ten years, the firm's practice evolved to focus almost exclusively on developer representation. In 1994, as Jim Rhoads transitioned to a senior counsel role, the firm's name was changed to Hyatt & Stubblefield, P.C.
Today, Hyatt & Stubblefield, P.C. continues to be an innovative leader in providing legal advice and assistance in the creation and operation of condominiums, planned communities, resorts and mixed-use developments. Our experience in working with hundreds of planned communities, condominiums, clubs, and resorts, throughout the country and internationally, gives us a unique understanding of the range of options available in structuring, operating, and selling new communities, how those options work in practice, the legal constraints, and the pitfalls to be avoided. As a result, we are able to propose and implement creative approaches and solutions to assist our clients in achieving their goals while protecting and enhancing the relationships between the developer, the association, builders, property owners, and other stakeholders in the community. We practice preventative law so that our clients can focus on progress without disruption and success without exception. We understand that our clients are creating a legacy, and we value the opportunity to be a part of that process.
We do not try to be all things to all people; rather, we pride ourselves on doing our best at what we do best - serving the needs of developers of condominiums and planned communities by providing innovative solutions, sound advice, and creative, high quality legal documentation in a cost-effective manner.
