The Chicago office is Jenner & Block's first and largest office - the birthplace and center from which the firm has built its reputation and culture.? The firm first opened its doors in 1914 as Newman, Poppenhusen & Stern, a three-person firm located in downtown Chicago in a building that was erected soon after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.? Today, Jenner & Block is one of the largest law firms in Chicago.? Approximately 330 of the firm's lawyers are based in the firm's 1.1-million-square-foot office at 353 N. Clark, in a Class A, LEED-certified office tower. Lawyers in our Chicago office are involved in high-profile litigation and substantial transactions. The Chicago office made headlines in the latter part of the 2000s when the firm represented the examiner in the Lehman Brothers Holdings bankruptcy and General Motors in its blockbuster IPO.
