Since our founding 48 years ago in 1972, Lieff Cabraser has litigated and resolved hundreds of class action lawsuits and thousands of individual cases. Many of these cases are among the most significant civil cases in the United States over the past quarter century.

Robert L. Lieff founded the firm in 1972 in San Francisco after litigating for seven years as a name partner with the late Melvin Belli. In 1981 Elizabeth J. Cabraser became a name partner, three years after joining the firm. Richard M. Heimann joined the firm in 1985 and one year later became a name partner. William Bernstein joined the firm in 1989 and was recognized as a name partner in 1995.
