BCG Attorney Search speaks with attorneys about law firms every day. Here is what attorneys are saying:

Reed Smith LLP is an international law firm with offices in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The firm has a long history of providing legal services in a variety of practice areas, including corporate, litigation, intellectual property, and finance. Based on reviews from attorneys and other individuals who have worked at the firm, Reed Smith has a number of positive aspects. Employees have praised the firm for its flexible working environment, diverse culture, and work-life balance. They also noted the generous benefits package, including an annual bonus and free lunch, as well as the relaxed atmosphere and the fact that no one kept track of vacation days. Furthermore, Reed Smith has a wide range of internal and external webinars and continued education opportunities, making the firm an attractive place to work and grow professionally.

That said, there are some areas that need improvement. Several reviews cited low salaries and US shifts expected, while others noted bad management, favoritism towards certain employees, and lack of accountability of managers. Additionally, some reviews mentioned the lengthy commute, clickish environment, HR needing additional training, and cubicles instead of offices with no privacy. Finally, some reviews reported that there were not enough administrative positions and that some managers were micro-managers.

Overall, Reed Smith LLP appears to be an attractive option for legal professionals who want a diverse and flexible working environment with strong benefits and educational opportunities. While there are some areas that need improvement, such as management and salaries, the reviews from attorneys and other employees suggest that the firm is overall a positive place to work.

Pros: 5.0 Current Employee, less than 1 yearThe business of relationships!Jan 24, 2016 - Billing Specialist in Pittsburgh, PA ProsI have only worked with hard working and personable people while at ReedSmith. While some corporations can get bogged down in corporate process and delegation of duties, I have yet to have an experience that is not efficiently addressed, results in quality work, and only strengthens the relationships between coworkers and the company and their clients.ConsNot for you if you dislike big corporate structure and process. Sometimes out dated IT hardware and processes for such a sizable company.

Nov 2, 2022 - Business Development Manager Pros Great working environment and COVID control and prevention protocol is efficient. Cons No cons to mention at the moment.5.0 The staff and attorneys are good people Accounts Receivable Cash Receipts Specialist (Current Employee) - Washington, DC - December 22, 2019 A typical day is checking the previous day's cash posting, printing the day cash checking and post any late ACH or Wires, filing lockbox cash receipts, making trust and depository cash deposits. What I've learned is to think smarter be alert at all times check for any mistakes before submitting cash applied, check emails before sending the message out to anyone. Management will give all to help to understand and do a correct job. The hardest part of the job may be to make sure all of the work is finished at the end of each month. The most enjoyable part of the job is knowing all of your work is finished and correct at the end of each day, week and month.5.0 Productive and team building Rotating Law firm paid Internship (Former Employee) - New York, NY 10022 - May 26, 2019 As an intern I was exposed to a variety of areas, with primary focus on administrative law and process. Pros free lunch Cons none5.0 Great environment and great firm. Legal Secretary (Former Employee) - Washington, DC - April 19, 2019 Great work environment and great management. Up to date software and great training classes for secretaries. Very active with community functions which is very impressive. I also like that employees were allowed to participate in these functions. Secretary to attorney ratio seemed fair. Great location in DC. Holiday time is great with support from management and employees. It made working there very enjoyable. Pros Pleasant environment Cons None that I can think of
