We have had notable success in convincing the government not to indict identified grand jury targets, thereby also helping individuals and corporations avoid criminal charges altogether. Where there is an indictment, we are often able to obtain favorable pretrial dispositions. Similarly, in civil disputes, our ability and willingness to try high-stakes cases often helps us achieve advantageous settlements without trial.

The firm also has broad experience conducting internal investigations on behalf of corporate clients and provides litigation-avoidance advice and other confidential legal counseling, often in highly sensitive contexts.

Our firm has a long history of dealing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the United States Department of Justice, state regulatory agencies, and state law enforcement officials. Many of our Partners have served as prosecutors and senior government advisors. These include positions in the Offices of the United States Attorneys for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York including two Chiefs of the Criminal Division, a Chief Appellate Attorney, and a Chief of the Securities Fraud Unit. Our ranks also include a former Regional Administrator of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
