The firm's principal shareholders are fellows of the American College of Trust & Estate Counsel. They have collectively been involved in drafting, reviewing or passing almost every piece of trust and estate legislation in Florida since 1983.
The firm's litigation practice includes the prosecution and defense of will contests, trust contests, compensation disputes, fiduciary liability claims, tortious interference claims, estate and trust accounting proceedings, incapacity proceedings, and constitutional claims in the trust and estate arena. In addition to providing legal advice to clients in these areas, the firm's shareholders also act as expert witnesses, mediators, consultants, and arbitrators in the trust and estate field. The firm handles litigation in Florida state and federal courts.
The firm's estate planning practice provides sophisticated services relating to transfers of assets during life and at death, including advice and document preparation regarding wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, tax-advantaged asset transfers (including the use of family limited partnerships), multi-generational planning, the Federal and State taxation of trusts and estates, charitable giving, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial planning, charitable trusts and charitable entities including private foundations, tax planning relating to immigration and expatriation, and issues relating to change of domicile.
The firm's estate and trust administration practice provides individual and corporate fiduciaries with legal and tax advice upon the death of an individual and in the course of estate and trust administration, including services relating to local probate and Federal estate taxation.
All members of the firm devote substantial amounts of time to The Florida Bar and other professional organizations. Three shareholders of the firm have served as chairs of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar, which is the largest section of the bar.
