Consistent with its position as a premier global law firm, Jones Day offers competitive salary packages by individual geographic market. Associate compensation for lawyers at Jones Day is reviewed annually in connection with their evaluation process. Salary determinations are based upon merit, considering an individual's total contribution to the firm, individual development and effectiveness.

A starting salary for new associates in Washington is $160,000 annually.

Generally judicial clerks joining Jones Day directly from a federal court clerkship receive a competitive bonus, reflecting the value the firm places on the clerkship experience. In addition, the firm provides credit for the time spent clerking for both compensation and seniority purposes. While the firm prefers that its associates complete their clerkships prior to joining, it also recognizes that this is not always possible. Post-employment judicial clerks are considered on a case-by-case basis for compensation, seniority and clerkship bonus.

For those taking the July bar exams a $10,000 summer living stipend is paid on June 1. Bar Exam Review Course and Bar Exam Fees will also be borne by the firm. A relocation expense package is also provided.
