Firm History
COCHRAN FREUND & YOUNG LLC was formed on March 1, 2004, by the three partners, William W. Cochran, Samuel M. Freund, Ph.D., and James R. Young. Each of these attorneys has over twenty-five years of extensive experience in Intellectual Property law. Mr. Cochran, a Registered Patent Attorney, is a former partner of Merchant & Gould, P.C., and of Holland & Hart in Denver, and he is a former Corporate Counsel and Manager of Intellectual Property Litigation for Hewlett-Packard Company in Fort Collins, Colorado. Dr. Freund, a Registered Patent Attorney, is a former Senior Patent Counsel at the University of California Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Mr. Young, also a Registered Patent Attorney, is a former partner of Faegre & Benson LLP and of Chrisman Bynum & Johnson P.C. in Boulder, Colorado.

The combined corporate and private law practice experience of the partners is over 100 years and is supplemented by two other experienced patent attorneys and a registered patent agent, as well as a full staff of paralegals and other legal and administrative assistants trained in handling U.S. and international patent, trademark, and copyright applications and associated maintenance procedures.
