Creed Black is a graduate of Yale College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Following a federal court clerkship, Mr. Black was recruited into the Honors Program at the U.S. Justice Department. He served as a federal prosecutor for five years, working in the Criminal Division (Organized Crime Section) in Washington, D.C, northern Virginia, Cleveland, and Philadelphia. Following his government service, Mr. Black joined the litigation department of the prestigious Philadelphia law firm Ballard Spahr LLP, where he handled both civil and criminal matters. He remained a Ballard Spahr partner for more than a decade, before opening his solo law firm in 1996.
Mr. Black is a longtime member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL); the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (PACDL); and the Federal Criminal Law Committee for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He speaks on issues of criminal law and procedure, frequently serving as a panelist at PACDL's annual "For the Experienced" Seminar, instructing other criminal defense attorneys on White Collar Practice.
