Jim Ledbetter is the founding member of the Firm. Through his practice, he represents a number of mining interests, oil and gas producers, physicians, hospitals, insurers and long-term care facilities. Mr. Ledbetter and the firm also defend Tribal Nations and Governmental entities.

In recent years, Mr. Ledbetter has been retained as a mediator and also a consulting and testifying expert in matters involving the interpretation of insurance coverage, the defense of professional negligence claims and the resolution of intergovernmental disputes.

Mr. Ledbetter is also active within a number of community agencies throughout Northern Arizona. He was elected to the Mingus Union High School District Board in 2006 and he has served on the Boards of Northern Arizona Healthcare, the Verde Valley Medical Center, Flagstaff Medical Center and Sedona Medical Center. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Verde Valley and Sedona Medical Centers. Mr. Ledbetter was also a founding Director for the Boys and Girls Club of Cottonwood. He has served as a Board Member for United Way for Northern Arizona, the Verde Valley Fair Association and has provided volunteer legal services to a number of agencies, including the Sedona Center for the Arts, the Women's Sanctuary of Cottonwood, Jazz On The Rocks, and the Old Town Mission.
With the Old Town Mission, Mr. Ledbetter established a pro bono legal clinic which has run for decades, and he obtained certification and worked to secure State and Federal licensures to operate a free medical clinic for the homeless and working poor.

Mr. Ledbetter has been appointed by Arizona Governors to serve on education, liability and healthcare task forces. He is also a frequent lecturer for Bar organizations on the topics of healthcare law, ethics, insurance coverage and tort reform.

As a result of his appointment by former Arizona Governor Napolitano to the Board of the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Controls and his subsequent election as its Chairman, Mr. Ledbetter obtained first-hand experience in operations of large State agencies, as well as the litigation of administrative appeals. He applies this experience to the Firm's administrative adjudication practice, particularly as to claims brought against licensed professionals.

Mr. Ledbetter has also published articles in the area of hospital-liability law, serves as a lecturer for hospital based organizations and has served on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel.

Mr. Ledbetter was also appointed to Congressional health care advisory committees, which will seek to further review the application, implementation and impact of health care reform changes upon physicians and hospitals.

Jim is an Arizona native; born in Casa Grande and raised in Pinetop-Lakeside. He has been married to his wife, Rita, for over 30 years and together they have five sons. He and his family reside near Sedona and Cottonwood, Arizona, having made the Verde Valley their home.
