Our Practice: An Exception to the Rule

Banks & Watson strives to be an exception to the rule that firms that are smaller in size generally move to limit their practices to narrow areas of specialty. Our experience has been that legal problems, especially those that are complex or difficult, tend not to respect the boundaries of a given specialized field. In litigation, our focus is on structuring innovative strategies for every phase of a case, from inception through trial or settlement. We have found that our "trial ready" approach has been effective in achieving advantageous settlements. Litigation experience within the firm includes a significant number of complex civil cases and regulatory matters in California and elsewhere, including New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Nevada and Hawaii. We have extensive experience with thorny, document-intensive litigation in diverse subjects such as professional negligence (lawyers and accountants), contracts, real property disputes, creditor's remedies, administrative law, regulatory investigations and claims, trusts and estates and construction disputes. We often are the firm of choice for legal firms who themselves are in need of counsel.

We also frequently advise law firms in dissolution and other law-related business transactions.
