Knut S. Johnson, the firm founder, is a State Bar of California, Certified Specialist in Criminal Law who defends people and organizations that government agencies are investigating and prosecuting. He received numerous honors and awards, including being named to the top 10 attorneys in San Diego by Super Lawyers in 2010 and 2011. He is assisted by an associate attorney, two paralegals, investigators, and clerks.
He has also taught lawyers and law students throughout his career and he has published articles related to his practice. His practice includes trials, appeals, and petitions for writ of habeas corpus throughout the United States. His clients have been charged with a wide range of crimes, including murder, minor misdemeanor offenses, serious violent crimes, weapons offenses, narcotics crimes, environmental crimes, and complex white collar and regulatory offenses. He has practiced before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, as well as in petitions for certiorari to the United States Supreme Court. He has also practiced before the California Courts of Appeal and the California Supreme Court.Mr. Johnson is supported by Associate Emerson Wheat, who has received both a law degree, a JD, and an advanced law degree, an LLM, in Federal Criminal Law. He is a tenacious litigator who handles cases on his own and in tandem with Mr. Johnson.
