JOHNSON & FREEMAN, LLC was founded in 1994 by Horace J. Johnson, Jr. and Ronald J. Freeman, Sr. In 1999, Patrise Perkins Hooker merged her commercial real estate practice, and the firm was later renamed Johnson Freeman & Perkins-Hooker. During that time, the firm-maintained offices in Midtown Atlanta and Covington Georgia. Since its' inception, the firm has celebrated 28 years of legal service to the business and governmental communities. Our staff remains true to the high standards set by the founders of commitment to integrity, and the provision of the highest level of legal services to our clients. Adherence to these principles allows the firm to build a sterling reputation in the legal profession as evidenced by the elevation of founding partner, Horace J. Johnson, Jr., to the Newton County Superior Court bench in 2002, and the naming of the other founding partner, Ronald J. Freeman, Sr., as a "Georgia Super Lawyer" for the year 2004 and successor years. Mr. Freeman has also received the designation of a "Georgia Legal Elite" since 2003. In 2018, Attorney Freeman was recognized as a "Top Georgia Business Lawyer" by his peers. In 2019, Attorney Freeman was recognized as a "Top Business Lawyer" Nationally by the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Bar Foundation. In 2001, Patrise Perkins-Hooker left the firm to pursue other professional endeavors including serving as the General Counsel for the Atlanta Beltline, State Bar President of Georgia (First African American to serve in this role) and as the Fulton County Attorney. In 2020, Horace J. Johnson, Jr. passed due to COVID related causes and later that year, the Newton County Courthouse was renamed the Horace J. Johnson, Jr. Justice Center. In 2021, Patrise Perkins Hooker rejoined the firm as its Administrative Partner and head of the Commercial and Transactional Practice Group.
