Before forming Phillips Jessner LLP, she served as senior counsel at Morrison & Foerster and as a partner at Beardsley, Hufstedler & Kemble (later Hufstedler & Kaus). Before forming Phillips Jessner LLP, he spent nearly 17 years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the Los Angeles United States Attorney's office, where he received national recognition for his work as a prosecutor in a number of prominent cases and established an unblemished record of success at trial. Before his work in the federal courts, he served for three years as a Deputy District Attorney in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office where he prosecuted a wide variety of criminal cases in state courts throughout Los Angeles County.
