Our law firm was established in 1985, when Doris Truhlar and Bob Truhlar, who had met in the registration line for law school in 1977, opened their law offices in Littleton, Colorado in a building owned by the family of a close friend from law school. In addition to being law partners, Bob and Doris are husband and wife.

Initially, the firm did a little bit of everything, operating as a general civil law practice (business, securities, contracts, litigation, employment, personal injury, medical malpractice, domestic relations, administrative law, etc.). Over the years, however, Bob did more and more employment law, generally on the side of the employee, and also represented a union, the Boulder Municipal Employees Association ("BMEA"). Doris gravitated toward family law, and also sometimes helps with BMEA matters and other employment law cases. The Truhlars remained in the downtown Littleton location for almost twenty years.

During the 1990s, the firm gradually stopped practicing in a number of areas (such as personal injury and medical malpractice), and concentrated more and more in employment law (Bob) and in family law (Doris). Today, the firm practices primarily in those two areas, plus Doris also writes wills, powers of attorney and related documents.

In 2004, Doris and Bob decided to move closer to their home, in the City of Centennial, located in the southeast Denver metropolitan area. They moved the law firm to its present location at the southeast corner of South Quebec Street and East Caley Avenue, to a building only eight blocks from their home. The firm has expanded to its present number of attorneys, four, and remains in the location to which it moved in 2004.

The lawyers and staff at Truhlar and Truhlar know that many of their clients come to them when they are experiencing difficulties, such as the break-up of a marriage or loss of a job.
