Ben Sather was born and raised in Havre, Montana. After graduating from Havre High, Ben attended the University of Montana, graduating with a degree in business administration. Ben stayed in Missoula, attending law school at the University of Montana. While in law school, Ben served as a legal clerk for the United States Senate Finance Committee. He also worked as an intern for the Missoula County Attorney as a prosecuting attorney for two years. While there, Ben prosecuted a wide variety of criminal charges in Missoula County, trying many cases to juries and judges. During Ben's third year of law school, Ben was selected as a clinical intern for United States Federal Magistrate Leif Erickson.
