Azim, Tunku Farik & Wong

Our firm commenced practice as Messrs. Azim, Ong & Krishnan on the 1st of January, 1985. The founding partners were Encik Zainal Azim, Mr. Ong Boo Kok and Mr. Vijayaram Krishnan. Mr. Ong Boo Kok, Mr. Vijayaram Krishnan and Encik Zainal Azim have since retired as partners of the firm. On the 1st of July, 1990 Tunku Farik Ismail was made a partner. Mr. Wong Hok Mun was made a partner on the 1st of January, 1992. Mr. Edmund Liew was made a partner on the 1st of January 1996. Mr. B. Balakumar was made a partner on the 1st of January, 1998. In June 1999, our firm changed its name to Messrs. Azim, Tunku Farik & Wong. Mr. T Tharumarajah was made partner on the 1st of January, 2001 whilst Mr. Anantharajah Shanmugam was made a partner on the 1st of January, 2006. Ms. Jasvindar Kaur and Mr. Wong Wai Leong were both admitted as partners on January 1, 2011 and Ms Chithra Jeganathan and Ms Tan Sixin were both admitted as partners on 1st January 2013. Ms. Elaine Koh was made a partner of the Firm on January 1, 2016.



We are a growing disciplinary practice with about thirty lawyers in the firm. Our practice provides legal advice and services in the areas of insurance, banking, conveyancing matters, corporate and securities, intellectual property and other commercial transactions.



Our firm is named the 'Insurance & Reinsurance Law Firm of the Year in Malaysia' & 'Commercial Law Firm of the Year in Malayisa' by the Corporate INTL Magazine Legal Award for 2015, a UK based monthly publication, with a distribution to more than 70,000 individuals and an approximate readership of 125,000 people. Its global readership consists of senior management, investment managers, legal advisers and specialists. Our firm was also named the 'In-house Community Firm of the Year in Malaysia for Insurance' in 2013 by Asean-MENA Counsel and in the same publication our Banking and Finance Department and Litigation and Dispute Resolution Departments received honourable mentions. In 2012, we were named the 'Commercial Law Firm of the Year 2012 by Malaysia ACQ Law. In the same year, we were accredited 3 awards namely 'Commercial Law Firm of the Year in Malaysia' & 'Insurance Law Firm of the Year in Malaysia' by Corporate INTL Magazine Global Award and 'Insurance Law Firm of the Year 2012, Malaysia' by Legal Monthly' in association with 'The Economist'. Notarial services are also available through our Notary Public.

The firm has incurred much time and expense in building a specialist team of litigators and back up staff to handle insurance claims. To assist lawyers to keep abreast with current laws, the firm has also invested in a comprehensive law library with online access to Malaysian and International cases and legislative updates.
