By 1998, these tobacco companies had agreed to pay more than $200 billion to states nationwide and to stop marketing their deadly products to children. In 2003, in another historic case, Rodman, Rodman & Sandman, P.C., joined forces with firms in Dallas and New York City to bring to justice large oil refiners that had contaminated public water supplies with the gasoline additive Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE). This case was settled for over $450 million, more than $90 million of which went to 80 public water providers in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Currently, Rodman, Rodman & Sandman is engaged in the representation of over 100 cities and towns in Massachusetts in the National Prescription Opiate Litigation centralized in Ohio.
