Conner Gwyn Schenck PLLC

Richard Conner, Holt Gwyn and Jim Schenck began practicing construction law together in the early 1980s. In 1999, they formed Conner Gwyn Schenck PLLC. Until 1999 Messrs. Conner, Gwyn and Schenck were equity partners at Patton Boggs LLP, a national law firm based in Washington, D.C., and were also principals in the National Institute of Construction Law, Inc., which authored Construction and Design Law, a multi-volume construction law treatise and case-reporting service published by the Michie Company. One of the managing editors of Construction and Design Law, Paul Davis, joined Conner Gwyn Schenck PLLC at its founding.

The firm has grown over the years by adding experienced construction lawyers and younger associates. Four of these lawyers bring more than their law degrees to the firm's practice. Hank Jarrett brings a degree in civil engineering. Drew Chapin is a licensed professional engineer. Tim Wyatt is a licensed professional engineer and a Ph.D. in civil (geotechnical) engineering. Kelli Goss is a registered architect.

Since its formation in 1999, Conner Gwyn Schenck PLLC has concentrated mainly on construction-industry clients and construction and environmental issues in North Carolina. The firm's emphasis has been on project-level services, including project delivery, contract documents, dispute resolution, land use and environmental compliance. Although best known for contract drafting and litigation, the firm also provides transactional and corporate services, including leasing and financing, acquisitions, divestitures and continuation plans, and serves as outside corporate counsel or as local support to in-house corporate counsel. The firm's interest and experience in the construction industry has led it to provide legal services in the public policy arena. Conner Gwyn Schenck members regularly advocate and formally comment upon proposed legislation and regulatory revisions for clients and industry groups. Our firm embraces public service work for the construction industry.
