Representing individuals and private and public organizations from all sectors, we use our experience and energy to find solutions within the ever-changing legal environment.

The lawyers of Birdsell Grant LLP have provided legal advice and service to the people and businesses of Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Parkland County, Edmonton and surrounding communities since the firm was established in 1984. In 2017, Birdsell Grant LLP was proud to expand their services to Whitecourt.
Our History

The firm opened its doors in July, 1984 when Michael Birdsell and his assistant Kim Marshall (now office manager) established a sole practice in the same location on Main Street in Stony Plain now occupied by Birdsell Grant LLP. In May of 1985, Mike was joined by Alastair Grant and Charles Gardner in 1991. The firm was known as Birdsell Grant Gardner and began to develop its expertise working with families, family businesses and municipal governments in Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Parkland County and Edmonton.

The firm has evolved over the years and the partnership proudly consists of Alastair Grant, Ray Frayne, Ziad Sheena, Joanna Waldie and most recently, Kate MacLennan.

We are honoured to continue serving many of the businesses and families (and their children and grandchildren) who were clients more than 30 years ago, and we continue to volunteer our time and services to a wide range of community, service and professional organizations.

Members of the firm have participated in, volunteered for and led various professional, service, cultural, social, sporting and business organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Clubs of Stony Plain and Spruce Grove, the Heritage Agricultural Society, the Alberta Summer Games Society, the Exhibition Society, KidSport Alberta and a host of other valuable organizations.

We provide pro bono or reduced fee legal services for organizations such as churches, nonprofits and community leagues. We acknowledge the limited resources available to these organizations, and wish to assist these organizations provide services to the community and to help them thrive.
