Our history

Founded in 1958 by Frank McLaughlin, the firm quickly established a reputation for providing leading edge commercial advice and competent and aggressive litigation services.

The firm's history is dotted with milestone decisions that helped shape the development of its home city, the Gold Coast.

This includes managing the legal matter of Kinkabool, the first high-rise apartment building on the Gold Coast, at a time when legal rights to ownership of units that were "floating in the air" didn't exist.

The firm's reputation for innovative and legally brilliant solutions continued through name changes. It was known as McLaughlin, Gordon and Lennon from the 1960's until 1992 when the name was changed to McLaughlins Solicitors.

On 1 October 2010, when McLaughlins incorporated with the practice of McDonald and Company Solicitors, McLaughlins changed its name to the present McLaughlins Lawyers.
