History

The first years The
history of Wistrand Law Firm began in 1915. That year, the lawyers Hugo Wikstr?m and Folke Sj?gren together formed the Law Firm Wikstr?m & Sj?gren and the first office was opened on Korsgatan in Gothenburg.

Like most law firms at the time, the firm was not specialized, but inheritance law, marriage law, company law and general civil law dominated the assignments. However, they did not commit criminal cases. However, the increasing motorism in Sweden during the latter part of the 1910s meant that they were allowed to make an exception to the rule and the agency entered into an agreement with the Royal Automobile Club (KAK) on legal advice for KAK's members, which meant that the agency was given an assignment as a defender for those accused of carelessness in traffic. The car cases were no small task as the smallest offense became the subject of court proceedings and traffic cases burdened the courts up to the 60s.

Another of the agency's early clients was G?teborgs Bank. At this time, banks did not have their own lawyers but hired lawyers. This was a regular arrangement and, like Gothenburg Bank, was linked to Wikstr?m & Sj?gren, the Scandinavian bank was linked to Lemans Advokatbyr? and Handelsbanken to Friman & Carlander.

Generations of lawyers
Over the years, the firm has educated many lawyers and many have stayed for a long time. Folke Sj?gren was a partner for 54 years and also his son G?sta and grandson G?ran have worked at the agency. In addition to the three generations Sj?gren, there are many people who made a big impression during their time at the agency. One of these was Folke Wistrand, who was hired as assistant lawyer in 1954. Two years later he became a co-owner and in 1969 the firm's name was changed to the Lawyers Sj?gren, Hed?n & Wistrand. Folke Wistrand was a skilled and dedicated process lawyer and worked at the agency until his death at the age of 77.

The entry into the Stockholm
Office has had several names over the years, but in the early 1990s the company name became short and good Wistrand Law Firm after a merger with the law firm Hedborg, Agrell & Elander. In connection with the change of name, the business also moved to the newly erected Lipstick at Lilla Bommen 1 in Gothenburg.

In view of the business's focus on business law, it was also important at this time to establish itself in Stockholm and in 1994 the lawyers Stefan Lindskog and M?rten Hulterstr?m opened the Stockholm office at Kungsgatan. Two assistant lawyers were hired and the office expanded greatly thereafter. In 1999, the operations at the Stockholm office moved to new offices in the World Trade Center and in 2007 the current office was opened at Regeringsgatan 65.

Present and future
During the past decade, the company has seen strong growth with many new employees added, and today Wistrand Law Firm is one of Sweden's largest law firms. We are committed wholeheartedly to our main asset - our employees, and started five years ago at the Wistrand Academy, which aims at continuous development for both the individual and the agency as a whole. We have also appointed a sustainability manager to make sure that we are at the forefront whether it is human rights, the environment, employees and their workplace or social responsibility.
