Douglas Bristol is a professor of immigration law at DePaul University College of Law and Chicago-Kent College of Law of the Illinois Institute of Technology. The courses cover business and family immigration law.
Prof. Bristol has been practicing immigration law since 1980. He has been one of twenty-four elected members of the Board of Governors of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, a national organization of over 8,000 immigration lawyers.
He is nationally recognized for his expertise in Immigration Law and frequently lectures to other lawyers. He has presented papers at the annual conference of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, which is comprised of 2,500 attendees, each year since 1991.
Mr.Bristol is a winner of the Joseph Minsky Beacon of Light Award as the outstanding attorney in Chicago. He is listed as one of the six Illinois attorneys who practice immigration law in The Best Lawyers in America. He has been the Chairman of the lawyer's committee that maintains a dialogue with the District Director and his staff at the Chicago District Office of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to resolve problems of process and procedure. Mr. Bristol is the past Chairman of the Chicago Bar Association Committee on Immigration and past President of the Chicago Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
