In 1998, the firm of Stokes & Fansler dissolved due to the ascension of Daryl Fansler to the office of Chancellor, Knox County Chancery Court. Soon thereafter, Billy J. Stokes, Herbert B. Williams, Robert R. Davies and Jon M. Cope continued the firm's practice as Stokes & Williams.
In 1999, Ellis A. (Sandy) Sharp and Mary Jo Mann resigned their shareholder positions at the Knoxville firm of Lewis, King, Krieg & Waldrop, P.C. (now Lewis Thomason) and merged their practices with Stokes & Williams. This group has evolved into Stokes, Williams, Sharp, Cope & Mann. Dustin E. "Dusty" Sharp became associated with the firm in 2016.
Our firm enjoys a solid reputation around the state and region as highly effective litigators. All of our attorneys are in good standing with all Tennessee State Courts, as well as with the United States District Courts and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. While the bulk of our practice remains concentrated in the East Tennessee area, we continue to be involved in litigation throughout the state and in other jurisdictions regionally and nationally.
