Helping workers enforce their rights is not just a job at The Amlong Firm - it is a calling. Our firm's founders, Bill and Karen Coolman Amlong, started militating for social justice while at university in the 1960s ? and they never stopped.

Our attorneys and supporting staff are as diverse and passionate as the clients we serve. As the first state coordinator of the Florida chapters of the National Organization for Women (NOW), and a national board member in her 20s, Attorney Karen Coolman Amlong has been active in women's rights issues. She was the first woman from Broward County elected as a state legislator in 1974, and, in 1993, she obtained the first multimillion-dollar-plus sexual harassment judgment in Florida. Fasttrack magazine also named her one of South Florida's Most Successful Businesswomen in 2002.

Before becoming a lawyer, Bill Amlong was an investigative reporter for The Miami Herald, covering, among other things, national politics. The Miami Herald nominated him for three Pulitzer Prizes.

With more than 74 years of combined legal experience, Bill and Karen Coolman Amlong are well-known in Florida courtrooms.

Not only has this dynamic husband-and-wife team been working together for several decades, but they have both been selected for inclusion on the Florida Super Lawyers list for several years straight. In fact, Karen has been included on this list every year since 2007 and Bill every year since 2008.
