Since 1990 the Law Offices of Paul H. Merry, Esq., have represented individual employees with relation to their employment, ranging from custodial workers to top level chief executive officers to accomplished professionals in medicine, education, finance, the law and other fields. New legislation increasing employee rights has been passed almost annually since the Civil Rights Act of 1991. Using legal remedies arising from contract and tort law, to anti-discrimination and other statutes, to constitutional rights, the office has secured significant financial and legal relief, ranging up to values of seven figures. Significant victories have been won in race and disability discrimination cases as well as in sex and sexual orientation discrimination situations. In the majority of cases the office has been able to achieve substantial results without litigation, however, using mediation or direct inter-party negotiation to produce satisfactory outcomes for its clients more quickly than through formal legal process. Many clients are employed by public schools or other governmental entities.
