Bouwers Inc. was established in 2004 by a group of trade mark and patent attorneys, with combined expertise in intellectual property of more than 40 years. We are currently members of various South African and international organizations such as INTA, LES, FICPI, the Law Society of the Northern Provinces Law as well as the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law (SAIIPL).

Since incorporation, Bouwers has received recognition from various local and international role players. In recent years, Bouwers has received highly favourable ratings and recommendations from internationally renowned magazines such as Managing IP and Asia Law & Practice, and in 2009, Bouwers was nominated by Managing IP as one of their 5 nominations for South African IP firm of the year.

Although our primary client market remains Southern Africa, we have established a highly efficient international network of agents and business associates through which we render services to South African clients as well as to numerous international clients in more than 150 jurisdictions. As a result of our extensive international network, we have been highly successful, not only in representing clients internationally in trade mark prosecution matters, but have also successfully litigated on behalf of clients in jurisdictions such as Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Egypt, India, Lebanon, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

We furthermore maintain and manage several major trade mark and technology portfolios on behalf of multi-national clients. In the aforementioned process, we utilize highly specialized and purpose designed IP software systems created by Patrix AB
