Dale Ann Iverson is founder and principal of JustMediation PLC, a professional corporation offering dispute resolution and collaboration services. Building on 19 years as a trial lawyer, she mediates a wide range of matters under contract and through private referral in private, court, and agency- connected ADR programs nationally and state-wide. She is an approved mediator in Michigan circuit and probate courts and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan. She also works with families and in workplaces, including corporations, churches, and higher education, to assess and address conflict. In 2004, Dale was designated Advanced Practitioner in Workplace and Organizations by the Association for Conflict Resolution based on substantial experience and training and the recommendations of clients, colleagues, and program administrators. Dale is an approved mediator trainer by the State Court Administrator's Office.
Dale's work in collaborative problem-solving and public policy facilitation has included a major municipal public policy initiative in citizen-based budgeting, merger negotiations and programming collaborations among 501(c) (3) charitable organizations, strategic planning initiatives, and work with state-court judges, court staff, lawyers and other community stakeholders to develop alternative dispute resolution ("ADR") programs within their courts. She works frequently in settings, including court cases, where the number of stakeholders and the nature of issues involved require sensitive process planning to ensure quality participation among all stakeholders. She has training and experience in a wide range of approaches to conflict engagement including negotiation theory and practice, transformative mediation, conflict coaching, and Native peacemaking.
Dale served on the Michigan Supreme Court 1998 Dispute Resolution Task Force. She co-facilitated the state-wide Task Force on Diversity in ADR and co-authored its report., and is a past president of the Grand Rapids Bar Association where she currently serves on several committees, including the Justice Foundation of West Michigan. She is board President of RoundTable Strategies (formerly "DRER"), the state-wide non-profit that administers the special education and agricultural mediation programs for Michigan. Since its inception in 2018, Dale has been an active volunteer mediator in the Pro Se Prisoner Civil Rights Litigation Early Mediation Program for the US District Court, Western District of Michigan.
Among numerous recognitions, since 2012 Dale has been named to Best Lawyers in America? in mediation and arbitration. Since 2015, Dale has been named a Super Lawyer? in mediation. She was conferred the Distinguished Service Award from the ADR Section of the State Bar, for significant contributions to the field of ADR; the George N. Bashara, Jr. Award from the ADR Section in recognition of exemplary service to the section and its members; the Trailblazer Award from the Dispute Resolution Center of West Michigan for leadership in community conflict resolution; the Michael S. Barnes Award from Legal Services of West Michigan in recognition of exemplary contributions to the provision of free legal services to the poor and elderly; the Tribute Award from the Grand Rapids YWCA for professional accomplishments and service to the community; and she was recognized by the Grand Rapids Business Journal as one of West Michigan's most influential women.
Dale attended Oberlin College and the University of Wisconsin Law School.
