Steven Tycksen is the Managing Partner of Tycksen & Shattuck, LLC, and has over 30 years of experience as a trial lawyer. He has served as a member of the Advisory Board to the Salt Lake County Juvenile Detention Center, and for more than two decades, he has volunteered his time as a Small Claims Judge Pro Tem in Utah's Justice Court System. In addition, he is a trained Mediator, allowing him to effectively and efficiently resolve complex legal problems. Much of his practice is devoted to the area of family law, and he was appointed by Governor Norman H. Bangerter to serve as a member of the Legislative Family Law Task Force, which drafted and recommended the Uniform Parent-Time Guidelines, as well as implemented mandatory Divorce Parent Education classes throughout the State of Utah. Steven Tycksen earned his J.D. degree from Brigham Young University ? J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1979, and graduated from BYU with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management in 1976, with a minor in accounting. His areas of practice include General Litigation, Appellate work, Personal Injury (Plaintiff's lawyer), Bankruptcy (Creditor and Debtor representation in Chapter 11, Chapter 13 and Chapter 7), Family Law, Mediation, Business Law, Construction Law, Estate Planning, and Business Planning. He is admitted to practice before all State and Federal Courts in Utah, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the Tenth Circuit.Chad C. Shattuck is a Partner at Tycksen & Shattuck, LLC and has been working with Steven Tycksen since October 2004. Since being admitted to the Bar in 2002, he has assisted hundreds of clients in resolving their critical legal issues in a professional and timely manner. Prior to founding Tycksen & Shattuck, LLC, Chad worked with Steve Tycksen at Zoll & Tycksen, L.C. from 2004-2007. During this time, he was the legal counsel for the Western States Water Council and developed extensive experience in water-related issues and environmental litigation. Additionally, he was involved in the water-related legislative efforts for eighteen Western states, providing advice to state representatives and publishing a weekly analysis of environmental litigation in a nationally circulated newsletter. Chad has had a successful career in trial and appellate work representing clients before the Utah Supreme Court, Utah Court of Appeals, Utah District Courts, in State administrative courts and before various state commissions. He is also experienced in appearing before the United States Supreme Court, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Bankruptcy Appellate Panel of the Tenth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the District of Utah.
