The firm was founded by Anthony DeMaria, who left his senior partnership at the largest law firm in Central California after 24 years, where he had been the chair of the specialty litigation department (insurance defense, school defense and public entity defense).

His goal in leaving McCormick Barstow was to form a firm that specializes in insurance, school and public entity defense. All the firm's employees are dedicated to the representation of the firm's clients in its specialty areas, where the firm has vast litigation experience. Attorney DeMaria is an accomplished trial lawyer who is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and is AV Preeminent peer-review rated,*, the highest rating, through Martindale-Hubbell.
