In felony criminal cases, Holthaus? trial court success and legal acumen are unmatched, with numerous acquittals for his clients, clearing them completely from all charges. Holthaus has defended businesses as well as represented plaintiffs in complex multi-million dollar class action lawsuits.
Holthaus is a graduate of Louisiana State University Law School. In addition to his successful practice, he has devoted considerable time throughout his career to legal education. For more than ten years, he has been an adjunct professor of law, teaching trial advocacy courses at his alma mater. In addition, Holthaus serves as chairman of the Louisiana Public Defender Board, where he oversees a $33 million budget of public funds dedicated to providing quality legal services to indigents throughout Louisiana with the goal of ensuring equal justice for all. As a founding board member of The Ecumenical House, Holthaus also worked closely with the Interfaith Council of Churches and Synagogues to create a halfway house for former federal inmates returning to civilian life in the Middle District of Louisiana.
