Burt & Cordes, PLLC

Burt & Cordes Law was created by longtime friends and former classmates at Wake Forest University School of Law, Laura Burt and Stacy Cordes. Prior to forming Burt & Cordes, PLLC, Ms. Burt and Ms. Cordes each became a well-respected attorney in her area of practice.

Ms. Burt has practiced family law in Charlotte, NC since 1992. Prior to forming Burt & Cordes PLLC, Ms. Burt practiced law in Charlotte handling exclusively family law matters. Although Ms. Burt spent many years litigating family law cases, Ms. Burt now focuses her practice on negotiating resolutions to challenging equitable distribution, alimony, child custody and child support matters. Ms. Burt is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Family Law.

Ms. Cordes has also practiced law in Charlotte, NC since 1992. Prior to forming Burt & Cordes, PLLC, Ms. Cordes practiced law in Charlotte, handling various litigation and bankruptcy cases. Ms. Cordes has appeared before the bankruptcy courts of the Eastern, Middle and Western districts in North Carolina and has represented clients in the state and federal courts in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties. Ms. Cordes focuses her practice on assisting individuals and companies in workouts and representation regarding all types of debtor-creditor and bankruptcy disputes. Ms Cordes is a certified Superior Court Mediator. At Wake Forest University School of Law, Ms. Cordes served as President of the Student Bar Association and Ms. Burt served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association.
