Our History

The firm was founded in 1952 by Arthur Goldbaum and Richard H. Goetz. The firm began as a general practice firm, offering services in real estate probate, general business law, personal injury law and collection law. Dean A. Sipe joined the firm in 1979 and the firm became Goldbaum, Goetz and Sipe. James A. Landon joined the firm in 1999. The name of the firm was later changed to Sipe & Landon and the firm added landlord-tenant law to its areas of practice. With the acquisition of Dwight Connely's practice in 2014 due to his retirement, Sipe & Landon is now focused primarily on helping residential landlords in all facets of the rental process. Dean Sipe and Dwight Connely remain of counsel to Sipe & Landon.

James A. Landon, Esq.

James graduated from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1996, after receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Cum Laude, from the University of Arizona in 1993. He has written a best-selling book regarding landlord and tenant law, The Weekend Landlord, first published by Sourcebooks in 2004, with a 2nd edition in 2006.

James has successfully handled thousands of landlord and tenant related cases, in addition to a decade plus of experience with commercial and consumer collections, real estate, entity formation, and other general civil legal matters.

He is a member of the Pima County Bar Association, the National Association of Residential Property Managers, and the American Multi-Housing Association.

Always relishing the art of public speaking, James made his first television and radio appearances at the age of ten, as a student advocate for the Austin, Texas Independent School District.

James has always actively participated in athletics, placing 2nd in a regional punt, pass, and kick competition at the age of nine, and going on to be a nationally ranked junior tennis player. More recently, he won a state racquetball title in the "D" division in his first tournament, and is a seven handicap golfer.

Heidi D. Landon, Office Manager

Heidi is a 2001 graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting. She started her career in public accounting where she developed a broad range of skills having spent time specializing in both tax preparation and accounting/auditing.

She now puts those skills to good use as office manager of Sipe and Landon. Her duties encompass a wide range of activities in the office from general bookkeeping to managing the flow of work in the office and coordinating technology.
