Parmenter Law embraces strong traditions that include an unwavering commitment to provide exceptional legal services that exceed client expectations. Our deep traditional roots date back to two Muskegon County law firms that began in the late 1940s.

In 1948, Harold M. Street and Paul Sorenson founded the firm of Street & Sorenson, a firm with a practice concentrating on municipal and business law. That firm eventually became O'Toole, Johnson, Potter, Rolf & Elkund.

In 1949, George A. Parmenter and Robert L. Forsythe began practicing under the name of Parmenter & Forsythe, a law firm that eventually became Parmenter, Forsythe, Rude, Van Epps, Briggs & Fauri. The firm's practice focused on real estate, probate and business law.

Then, in 1992, the shareholders of those two firms determined a merger would enable them to provide better, more specialized legal services to their clients, and Parmenter O'Toole was formed. From the beginning, Parmenter O'Toole has provided quality legal representation and counsel to businesses, municipalities, families, and individuals throughout Michigan and beyond.

For the next 25 years, Parmenter O'Toole continued to evolve. Today, the firm has a much different approach to the law and our Team practices law like no other firm. We now practice Parmenter Law, a collaborative Team approach to our clients' needs all on the solid foundation we learned from our founders. Tom O'Toole, one of the firm's founding partners, established the traditions that built that foundation. His values of honesty, respect, hard work, and "doing what you said you would do" are still at the firm's core. Mr. O'Toole practiced law with a passionate dedication to these fundamental principles that embody the spirit of Parmenter Law today.
