SPECIAL NOTE CONCERNING THE CURRENT SITUATION IN LIBYA


Since February 2011 Libya has been going through turmoil and instability following a violent popular rise against the rule of Muammar El Gghaddafi. MTL has risen to the challenge and managed to maintain operation and to restructure to continue to serve its clients and the Libyan legal market both on the ground in the city of Tripoli Libya a from a safe distance .
Early 2015 Founder Salah Marghani has rejoined the firm after having left a brief period in public office alongside Founder and Managing Partner Fituri Tabet , Salah Shambi and Tarek Milad after many years of active legal work where elevated to full partners . Omar Dalla and Najia Metwa have gained the status of associate lawyers and more recently joined by Zakharia El-gharabli
MTL is also maintains a limited off-shore presence to facilitate communication with clients considering the current country crisis.



THE FIRM

MTL senior partners and consultants, Salah Marghani, Fituri Tabet, are lawyers with significant experience in Libyan law as well as international trade laws and practices from a Libyan perspective. MTL has two partners with over 17 years of experience each. Associate Najia Metawa and Omar Dalla and Zakaria El-gharabli have joined MTL team and over the years have graduated from being MTL trainees or associates to MTL junior partners. The firm, established in 1990following the re-introduction of legal private practice to Libya, has developed a selective clientele that allows it to advocate the interests of foreign clients' interests such as foreign investors, contractors and traders. MTL adopts strict policies on Conflict of Interest issues, backed up by a long-standing clientele orientation that avoids representation of Libyan public bodies and therefore allows for a better standing on issue of potential 'conflict of interest' vis-a-vis international clients.
