Dokovska, Atanasov and Partners was established as a legal entity in 2005, when it was first registered with the law firms' registry by the Sofia city court under company file ? 7269/2005 in accordance with the BAR act, as promulgated with State gazette issue ? 55 from 25.06.2004. The partners, however, have a history of working together far before the aforementioned foundation. In 1992 part of the practicing in the field of civil law partners united their efforts and formed "Atanasovi, Chukleva and associates" law firm. The partners who were specialized in criminal law were practicing as "Dokovska, Vandova, Lulcheva".

After analyzing the political and economic process underway in Bulgaria and the challenges faced by the BAR certified practitioners, and coming to the conclusion that only the full range of complex legal aid could satisfy the needs of the society, the members of the two informal organizations came to the idea of creating a new law firm, which can provide a wide spectrum of professional help in the area of civil and criminal law.

The law firm has based its activity on the high personal moral values of each member and the following principles: exact compliance with the law and legal ethics, professional approach to the protection of the interests of the client, strict observation of the rule of lawyer's confidentiality, collegiality and payment flexibility for the provided legal services.

The law firm is a member of the Association of European Lawyers. It is among the leading law firms as listed by ?Chambers & Partners" ? ?Chambers Europe" for 2011-2015 in the field of dispute resolution. In 2011 Dokovska, Atanasov and Partners was nominated for the best law firm in Bulgaria in the area of criminal law. The same year the firm was included in the reference book of the best legal practices in the world by "Global Law Experts".

Dokovska, Atanasov and Partners is contributing to the improvement of the legal qualification of its members, trainees, junior attorneys and associates. The law firm is offering free legal aid on matters related to the legal tradition and the foundations of the legal order in Bulgaria. The managing partners are contributing as experts to the elaboration of acts of legislation and monitoring research on the effect of the application of the legislation in force. They are also preparing pro bono opinions on behalf of the Supreme BAR association that are being taken into consideration during the procedure for adoption of interpretive judgments of the Supreme Court of Cassation, as well as on Constitutional court cases.
