Bill Genego represents individuals in criminal investigations, at trial and on appeal, and in selected instances, represents plaintiffs in pursuing civil claims. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Genego was a tenured clinical law professor at the University of Southern California, and he has been a visiting or adjunct law professor at UCLA, Boston University and Georgetown. He has been recognized as one of the "Top 100" lawyers in California, is listed in "Best Lawyers in America" for white collar criminal defense and non-white collar criminal defense, and is rated among the top five percent of lawyers in his field in Southern California "Super Lawyers." He has received numerous awards, including the President's Award from the National Associated of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the President's Award from the Criminal Courts Bar Association. He is a graduate of Yale Law where he was an editor of the Yale Law Journal and was awarded the Michael Egger Prize, the Israel Peres Prize and the Francis T. Wayland Prize. Mr. Genego has achieved acquittals in cases ranging from federal fraud prosecutions to first degree special circumstances murder. Mr. Genego has a long-history of appellate reversals in a broad range of issues and cases, including bank fraud, conspiracy, controlled substances, entrapment, restitution and international extradition, and his cases have resulted in the adoption of new Ninth Circuit Model Jury instructions for entrapment and materiality.
