Cliff Hunt is a very experienced and aggressive criminal defense lawyer. He is recognized by judges and his peers as one of the top criminal defense lawyers in Hawaii. Cliff is a highly skilled and creative trial lawyer. He has tried some of the most serious, notorious and lengthy criminal and white collar criminal cases in Federal and State courts of Hawaii. Cliff started his criminal defense career with the Office of the Public Defender for the State of Hawaii in 1988 and left that office in 1992 to start his own private practice of law. For almost twenty-five years his practice has focused exclusively on criminal defense. Cliff has successfully tried and defended hundreds of serious felony cases in Federal and State Court, including murder, mortgage fraud, RICO, white collar theft and fraud, assault, sexual assault, kidnapping, robbery, burglary, theft, fraud and drug cases. Cliff grew up in Honolulu and graduated from Kalani High School. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Hawaii for one year, then enrolled in the University of Wisconson-Madison and graduated with Honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1980. He graduated from the University of Hawaii Law School in 1983. He is licensed to practice law in all of the state courts in Hawaii, and before the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
