Our People
mkd_300x250-1When we set out to start a family law firm, we weren't interested in merely copying the traditional model. Instead, we wanted to create a new type of family law firm ? one where our empathy and understanding of our clients combined with our legal acumen and practical experience to help people build better futures for themselves and their children.
Our approach infuses every aspect of our practice, from our initial meetings with clients to the space in which we work. Here are just a few of the ways in which Freed Marcroft stands apart:
Our Processes. We offer a full range of divorce processes, including mediation, collaborative law, and litigation. While we are prepared and able to go to court and win in litigation, we also understand that litigation imposes significant costs in money, time, and stress on our clients. That's why we also focus on mediation, collaboration, and other structured negotiation options ? so that you can build a brighter future more effectively.
Our Practice. We offer a full range of family law services, from high net worth, international, and collaborative divorce to prenuptial agreements, adoption assistance, and civil litigation. If you need help with a specific legal issue like custody or spousal support, we have the experience and knowledge to assist.
Our Approach. One thing we learn again and again in the practice of family law is that no two families, individuals, or relationships are the same. Since you and your situation are unique, we treat you accordingly. We take the time to understand each of our clients and to plan personalized approaches that move you toward the future you want to build.
Our Location. We chose our offices in Hartford and Cheshire out of a commitment to create an office that was an extension of our home. By so doing, we place our clients at the center of everything we do. When you step into our offices, you're never "just" a case file ? you're a guest. We invite our clients in because we care about what you want, and we're committed to helping you make it work.
Meghan and Kristen didn't look for an office space for Freed Marcroft; they looked for a home that was an extension of the way they practice law, in concert with their commitment to the environment, and in the heart of the City in which they live and love. They didn't want views of Hartford from on high, they wanted to look through their windows and see people's faces. They wanted to step from their front door right onto Main Street. They found their home at The Linden, on Hartford's Main Street. In 1891, Brown, Thomson & Company built the five-story brick building, which is listed on the National Historic Register. They received an award from the Hartford Preservation Alliance for their historic renovation of their office at 419 Main Street, and were featured in Hartford Magazine's green office edition for their environmentally-friendly workplace.
